Dear Mr. Nielson,

I am writing on behalf of Timothy Joseph Leon, my son. I have been waiting for you to give him a release date for many years. He should have been released long ago. I know what Tim did was wrong, and if there were any way it could have been prevented we would give anything to turn back time. I'm sorry about what happened so long ago. Tim had just met some of the other people involved. Vincent Holland did not deserve to die even though he had been in trouble most of his life where he had raped and violated people.

I know my son and as I look back through his lifetime, I can honestly say he was a good boy and young man and still is. He never was in trouble, always did his best in school, home, church. He cared very much for those around him. He was in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Explorer Scouts. Played in the band from grammar school through high school, active in sports. When he was 17 he joined the Air Force Reserve, military police, he served 2 years and received an honorable discharge.

Since Tim has been in prison he has done his best to help others. While at Tracy he was a math tutor for other inmates. Clerk to the Jewish Rabbi, taught others how to type, read, write letters. He completed his electronics course, received his degree in 1995. Since that time he has repaired much of the equipment at prison facilities he was located at. Some of this equipment no longer had service manuals or were told by outside vendors that nothing could be done. Sometimes I feel that Tim is just as valuable to you where he is and you will never let him out. If you contacted officials and people he has worked with or for, you will find that he has always done his best to be helpful, respectful, accurate and did any job that was asked of him. If he were in private industry he would be an asset to any employer. Tim will not have any problem finding employment upon release. Mr. Chuck Parrish still asks when Tim will get out as he has a job waiting for him.

Timothy has my support in any way that he needs, he has a home here for as long as he desires. He is ready to be released. You have had him half of his lifetime, please give him a date or send him home.

Sincerely

Patty (Leon) Brittain - Mother
