Web Page Resources
|
The biggest resource I have found for Web developers is the Web Developer's Virtual Library (WDVL). Well maintained and updated often, its best-known resource is the Library of Web Development, with well over 2,000 annotated links to web developer resources. Also, there's over 1,000 more links in the Bookmarks section.
Joe's Garage presents an annotated HTML index, with links to HTML editing and Web page creation resources, including graphics, guest books, etc., to enhance your Web page. You can also join Joe's Garage and acquire his cool graphics for your page as well as a reference to your page on his site (free advertising).
A good source of HTML guidelines and resources (with a good selection of annotated examples) can be found at Thomas Rumley's HTML Learning page here at GeoCities.
Another good set of resources on HTML can be found at Guides to HTML at
NCSA. (A very comprehensive list of guides and tutorials).
Don't forget about the many search engines available on the internet. By simply specifying a key word or two, you can get references to many sites covering that topic. In addition, GeoCities has HELP FORUMS where you can post questions about graphics, frames, HTML, file transfer, Java, etc., and, usually, receive a quick response from numerous people who are ready to help. You can also find listings of questions and responses from the past few weeks where you may be able to find a question similar to yours with one or more responses. I find it educational to go to the forums on a regular basis just to keep up my HTML skills and learn a new trick or two.
A good site with fresh listings and reviews of "all the best freebies that are available on the Net" can be found at The Free Site. You can find references to guestbooks, web space, software, free sounds and music, webmaster freebies, and lots more.
