Poetry

Prophetic Soul

Play the game, feel your pain
I'll call your bluff, it's not enough
Keep it in, push me out
Curb your fears, silent shout.

Hide your weakness, stand up strong
Do it right, you know it's wrong
Flash that smile, easy grin
Yet you lose the more you win.

Transparent doors give you away-
The less you speak, the more you say.
Ask me why, how I return
To feel the fire, risk the burn.

Nothing worthless ever leaves
Nothing mournful ever grieves
Nothing bright will ever shine
No one sober walks the line

Happiness is hidden well
A trodden path leads to your hell.
Find freedom from fateful lies
Speak the truth that's in your eyes.

Wake Me With Kisses

Wake me with kisses, I'll greet you with love
Nuzzle my neck, And I'll try not to shove.
Smile, show the mischief behind those blue eyes
The pout in your lips will be my demise.

Steal me from dreamland, my unhappy host
Return me to life, help me shake off the ghost--
The daunting image of a dreadful dream
The sacred relief of an aborted scream.

Release me from all that is evil and pain
Lend me your help to breathe freely again.
Wake me with kisses, a breath of fresh air
I'll savor the solace of your loving care.

So give me your heart to start off my day
Ask me to love you, and I shall obey.

Foundation

Grasping at seemingly random straws
Wondering which path to take
Questioning which direction to go;
What decision to make-

Uncertainty lies on every road
Resolution seems unclear
I'll brace my shoulders to the wind
Collect my courage, stifle my fear

I'll chase my dreams but if I fail
I'll dream again another day
I'll always find the will to try
And learn to live along the way

Through all the storms life throws at me
I will stand strong and true
Body, Mind, Heart and Soul-
The strengths I learned from you.
