Scenes from McLain State Park

McLain S.P. is a popular recreational area in the Keweenaw. MTU holds their yearly "K-day" celebration there each fall as a sort of "last fling" before the weather turns really nasty. When my brother and I camped there July 1999 I snapped the following photos.

Sunset over the west breakwater of the northern canal entry. The silhouette in the center is the lighthouse that guards the entry.

Same breakers, different perspective, I've made my way out onto the breakwater toward the light. I like this shot better because of the boat out in the distance, and because the thunderhead (just to the right of the lighthouse) way out in the distance is much more defined.

My brother and I didn't seem to be alone at our campsite, our little friend here was constantly around our campsite. I dont think he was alone either.
