This was Gerard Neesham's last home game in charge the Dockers, and as Ross Glendinning said before the game, it was a real chance for the team to show a bit of moral fibre and backbone. At the end of the day, Freo showed exactly how much they have of those two qualities.
Fremantle were actually probably not quite as bad as the final scoreline would seem to indicate. Their second half was certainly pretty woeful, just the same. On the other hand, the lead actually blew out to be close to 11 goals before Fremantle staged a mini revival in the depths of the final quarter.
