TimN's View on the Fremantle Dockers - Essendon Game

--------------------------------------------------------------

The Bombers had a lead of near enough to 4 goals at quarter time, and Fremantle never really caught that up. They got as close as 9 points a few times, but really they lost the game in the first quarter.

After a long time watching Fremantle, I have set myself pretty low standards for satisfaction when I see Freo play over here in Melbourne. One of my criteria is that I like to see them kick at least one goal a quarter. They failed to live up to that standard in the last quarter of this game.

The final margin was under 10 goals, so it could have been worse, but I really didn't see much that inspired me today. Pav didn't have a great game. MacPharlin and Tarrant were tried forward and back, and neither of them looked too good, though Tarrant did better up front. Hill and Palmer were OK but not good enough yet to win games. Essendon have a lot of young players coming through, and their older players - Lloyd, Lucas, Hille - were not playing that well. Despite that, Fremantle were at least 6 goals worse than they were.

Final Score : Essendon 16.13-109 beat Fremantle 10.11-71
